veep veep veep

This week's New York Times Magazine has a main article focusing on Joe Biden, our fine nation's VP.

Heeey Joe!

The article discusses a number of things, but one of its main focuses is strategy in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and Biden's role in shaping it. The author of the article, James Traub, predicts that Biden "...is very likely to once again lose the debate on troop strength, though he may win on narrowing the objectives. The real test of his success will be whether the new policy tilts toward Pakistan."

This article in the Washington Post, released yesterday, essentially says that the U.S. is seeking a deeper strategic partnership with Pakistan, and that "Pakistan has been the hot core of the months-long strategy review. The long-term consequences of failure there, the review concluded, far outweigh those in Afghanistan." So, congrats to Biden, I think.

Unrelated to Pakistan, but there was also a quote in the article that I liked a lot: "Question people's judgment, not their motives."

Anyway. Thanksgiving weekend is now officially over, which probably means I should blog more than, like, once a week (I will, I will!). I was... in a food coma? For like four days? Story of my life, actually.

World AIDS Day is tomorrow, y'all. Big calendar of events anywhere in the world here, calendar of MN-specific events here.
